Overview
Goethe B1: German Grammar covers the level where German stops being a set of phrases and starts being sentences you build. Twenty-four subjects run from the Präteritum and the Plusquamperfekt through concession with obwohl and trotzdem, temporal clauses, infinitive clauses with zu, connectors and the word order they command — each explained in plain German with an English reading of any card, then practised until it holds. Topics are split across B1.1 and B1.2 so you always know what comes next, and audio examples, listening sets and reading tests turn a rule you have just read into something you can actually hear and use.

- What is the difference between this and the Goethe B1 exam trainer?
- This app teaches grammar: 24 topics explained from scratch and then drilled. Goethe B1 rehearses the exam itself — its sections, task types and format. B1 is the level where a shaky rule shows up in the writing and speaking parts, so grammar first pays off.
- Do I need to finish A2 first?
- It assumes A2: the Perfekt, subordinate clauses and the cases. If those are still loose, Goethe A2: German Grammar covers them. Every German explanation here can be read in English with a tap, so the wording never blocks you.
- What do the 24 topics cover?
- The full B1 grammar syllabus — the Präteritum and Plusquamperfekt, concession with obwohl and trotzdem, temporal clauses, infinitive clauses with zu, connectors and sentence position, the passive, relative clauses, Konjunktiv II and the rest of the level, ordered B1.1 then B1.2.
