Overview

Goethe A2: German Grammar picks up where A1 stops and teaches the structures the A2 level turns on, one topic at a time. Twenty-two subjects run from the Perfekt and its irregular participles through subordinate clauses with weil and dass, the connector deshalb, the two-way prepositions and the word order each of them forces — every rule explained in plain German with an English reading of any card, then practised until it holds. Topics are split across A2.1 and A2.2 so you always know what comes next, and audio examples, listening sets and reading tests turn a rule you have just read into something you can actually hear and use.

Questions

Before you download Goethe A2: German Grammar.

Is this an official Goethe-Institut app?
No. Goethe A2: German Grammar is an independent study app built by Melih Firat. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Goethe-Institut, and it does not issue certificates.
What is the difference between this and the Goethe A2 exam trainer?
This app teaches grammar: 22 topics explained from scratch and then drilled. Goethe A2 rehearses the exam itself — its sections, task types and format. Grammar first tends to make the exam practice land better.
Do I need to finish A1 first?
It assumes you can already form a simple present-tense sentence, which is what A1 leaves you with. If that part is shaky, Goethe A1: German Grammar covers it from the alphabet up, and every German explanation here can still be read in English with a tap.
What do the 22 topics cover?
The full A2 grammar syllabus — the Perfekt including irregular participles and the verbs that take sein, subordinate clauses with weil and dass, the connector deshalb, two-way prepositions, the dative, comparatives and the rest of the level, ordered A2.1 then A2.2.
What does it cost?
The app is free to download, with the first topics open. A Pro upgrade unlocks all 22 topics and every exercise, as a monthly or annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, on iOS. There is no Android or web version.
