Privacy Policy for English A1: Grammar & Words

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the English A1: Grammar & Words app (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

The short version: the App has no account, no ads, and no server of ours. Your lessons, your answers and your progress stay on your device.

2. Important Disclaimer

This App is an independent, unofficial application developed by Melih Firat. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Council of Europe, Cambridge Assessment English, the British Council, or any examination or certification body. It issues no certificate. “A1” refers to the level described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and is used descriptively to say what the App teaches. All lessons, exercises and word lists are written for this App.

3. Information We Collect

The App has no account and no sign-up. You never give us a name, an email address, or a password to use it.

3.1 Information You Provide

  • Subscriptions: When you purchase a Pro subscription, payment information is collected and processed by the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Support requests: Any contact via email, and whatever you choose to include in it.

3.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device information (OS, version, device type)
  • Subscription status and entitlements (via RevenueCat)
  • App preferences and settings

The App contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash reporter. Nothing you tap inside a lesson is reported to us.

3.3 Information Stored Locally

Your study data stays on your device. It includes:

  • Grammar progress across the 36 topics:
    • Which topics and sections you have completed
    • Your answers and results for gap fills, word-order builders, listening questions and topic exams
  • Vocabulary progress: words marked as not started, learning or learned across the 893-word list, plus flashcard decks and word test results
  • Gamification data: XP earned, your daily streak and the date of your last study session
  • App settings and preferences (the language explanations are shown in, light or dark mode)
  • Lesson content and audio, which ship inside the App

None of this is uploaded to us, and we cannot read it. It is removed when you delete the App.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 RevenueCat

4.2 Apple App Store

  • Processes payments
  • Manages subscriptions
  • Presents the optional rating prompt, which is Apple’s own and tells us nothing about you
  • Subject to Apple’s privacy policy

4.3 Speech on Your Device

  • Most audio is a British-English recording bundled inside the App
  • Where no recording exists, the word or sentence is read by your device’s own text-to-speech, which is part of iOS and handled by Apple
  • We never send what you tap to a server of ours

4.4 Local Storage

  • Stores grammar, vocabulary and gamification progress on your device only
  • No transmission to external servers

4.5 No Advertising

  • The App contains no ads and no advertising SDKs
  • We do not build advertising profiles and do not track you

5. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Enable Pro features
  • Verify subscription status
  • Improve lessons, exercises, audio and word lists
  • Troubleshoot
  • Process transactions
  • Respond to support requests

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

6. Data Storage and Security

Topic progress, exercise results, vocabulary state, XP and your streak are stored locally and controlled by you. The App works completely offline.

Subscription and payment data are handled by Apple and RevenueCat.

We limit data transmission and rely on established platform payment systems.

Protection measures:

  • Local data encryption where applicable
  • Secure transmission via standard protocols
  • Regular updates

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. Limited sharing includes:

  • RevenueCat and Apple for payment and verification
  • Legal requirements or protection of rights

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • View and update your progress at any time
  • Retake any exercise or topic exam, which replaces the stored attempt
  • Change the explanation language at any time in Settings
  • Cancel subscriptions in your device settings
  • Restore prior purchases within the App
  • Delete local data by uninstalling (or use in-app reset if available)
  • Request data access by contacting support

9. Children's Privacy

Not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Parents should supervise usage and review our policies.

10. International Users

Data may be processed outside your country.

Usage implies consent to processing as described in this Privacy Policy.

11. Data Retention

  • Local progress: retained while the App is installed
  • Subscription data: retained while active and for a reasonable period after expiry
  • Support communications: retained to assist and for record-keeping

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Updates take effect when posted. Continued use after changes implies acceptance.

13. Your Consent

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
