1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the DTZ: Deutsch für Zuwanderer app (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Important Disclaimer

This App is an independent, unofficial application developed by Melih Firat. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF), telc gGmbH, the Goethe-Institut, or any associated entities. This App has no connection to those organisations whatsoever, and it does not issue certificates. All practice material is written for this App to the shape the Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer prescribes.

3. Information We Collect

The App has no account and no sign-up. You never give us a name, an email address, or a password to use it.

3.1 Information You Provide

  • Subscriptions: When you purchase a Pro subscription, payment information is collected and processed by the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Support requests: Any contact via email, and whatever you choose to include in it.

3.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device information (OS, version, device type)
  • Subscription status and entitlements (via RevenueCat)
  • Usage (session, in-app actions)
  • App preferences and settings

3.3 Information Stored Locally

Your study data stays on your device. It includes:

  • Exam progress across the six Übungssätze:
    • Answers and results for Hören, Lesen, Schreiben and Sprechen
    • Your best score per section
    • The self-assessment you record for Schreiben and Sprechen on the four criteria
    • Any Schreiben text you write in the App
  • Vocabulary progress: words marked as learned, learning, or not started, plus flashcard decks and word test results
  • App settings and preferences (app language, light or dark mode)
  • Content and audio cached for offline use

Anything you write or record your own marks against in the App remains on the device. It is not uploaded to us, and we cannot read it.

4.3 Local Storage

  • Stores exam and vocabulary progress on your device only
  • No transmission to external servers

4.4 No Advertising

  • The App contains no ads and no advertising SDKs
  • We do not build advertising profiles and do not track you

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Enable Pro features
  • Verify subscription status
  • Improve exam content, audio and word lists
  • Troubleshoot
  • Process transactions
  • Respond to support requests

We do not sell your data. Analytics is limited to improving the service.

6. Data Storage and Security

Exam results, self-assessments, written answers and vocabulary progress are stored locally and controlled by you. The App works completely offline.

Subscription and payment data are handled by Apple and RevenueCat.

We limit data transmission and rely on established platform payment systems.

Protection measures:

  • Local data encryption where applicable
  • Secure transmission via standard protocols
  • Regular updates

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. Limited sharing includes:

  • RevenueCat and Apple for payment and verification
  • Legal requirements or protection of rights

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • View and update your progress at any time
  • Retake any Übungssatz, which replaces the stored attempt
  • Cancel subscriptions in your device settings
  • Restore prior purchases within the App
  • Delete local data by uninstalling (or use in-app reset if available)
  • Request data access by contacting support

9. Children's Privacy

Not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Parents should supervise usage and review our policies.

10. International Users

Data may be processed outside your country.

Usage implies consent to processing as described in this Privacy Policy.

11. Data Retention

  • Local progress: retained while the App is installed
  • Subscription data: retained while active and for a reasonable period after expiry
  • Support communications: retained to assist and for record-keeping

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Updates take effect when posted. Continued use after changes implies acceptance.

13. Your Consent

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
